Hi. I want to buy a van. I have a budget of around 2000 euro. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm liking the look of the opel vivaro, are they any good? Thanks.

I'd say a Vivaro in that price range will probably have it's best days behind it. The early ones have gearboxes made of chocolate too.

Something like a Hiace is worth looking it as long as you don't mind the 1990s design and heavy mpg. They tend to outlast their owners though.

What about an Opel or Vuaxhall combo

The Combo being based on a car might be less practical than a Vivaro type full size panel van.

Yeah I want a bigger van but I wouldn't mind if it looked decent too. No offence to any hiace fans. If the vivaro ain't up to scratch then I might need to look elsewhere.

The problem will be trying to find a decent Vivaro that isn't battered or a money pit within your budget.

Would 3,000 help things a lot or only a little?

Volkswagen Caddy? You'd get the new model one for around the €3k price.. But if your budget is €2k then you'd get a reasonably clean old model one!

The new one's look a bit better alright. Hard to find a good one for 3k though.

Caddy's hold their value really well, €3k might get you into a 04 new type model but alot of them are either trashed or have mega mileage at this stage.

A Ford Transit maybe. Just make sure it has been well looked after and minded. A VW Transporter the T4 version is another option. Might not be much to look at but they are a great van.

    Peace and long life.
