Anyone know just who is responsible for the Electric Nightmare?

The Mourne Observer has been running articles, over a few weeks on the Buck passing over responsibility for the lack of parking signage and fines for blocking access to charge points in N.Ireland. Today's paper includes an up to the minute quote from the Department of Rural Development, "The Charge Points in N.I are the responsibility of N.I.E.
So that explains it all, Carra,Nigel and our friends in Dublin can leave it to N.I.E. Pity their number isn't on the CPs?

See it's the Governments and CO Councils that are responsible for creating and enforcing laws but they see electrics as impractical toys not worth spending money on infrastructure. A lot of the people in Government are old fashioned minded and don't accept change too well.

When the range improves in just 3 years or so there will be a lot less reliance on charge points but still a good demand for the fast chargers in particular as they need longer on the charger because the battery is a lot bigger.

Wed 6th May Mourne Observer, DRD informed us ,"All charge points in Northern Ireland are owned and operated by Northern Ireland Electricity, said a spokesperson. "Any issues in respect of charge point faults should be directed to NIE via the dedicated charge point call number displayed at each charge point"
I seriously doubt if anyone in said dept ever bought an EV with their own money, had a fault and called the "dedicated call number displayed on the CP" If they looked at their own Ecarni.com site they might know the number is a Abtran Customer Service number In Dublin !

At the Irish Open in Newcastle the big people carrier blocking the CP bay yesterday was a plug in hybrid, he wasn't plugged in, just taking the space because he could, with impunity. Can't always blame the petrol heads.

I recently parked at a Rapid CP,don't need to use them much, but had problems with a BMW i3 in the adjoining bay.
He wasn't badly parked, but because my charge socket is at the front of my car,and at the side of the i3,the very heavy cable just about stretched to my socket. This put a great deal of stress on the socket, the pins of which I understand are not copper, but aluminium and have cause connection and therefore charging problems already. Similar problems may occur with the Vauxhall Ampera, and who knows how many more EVs until there is some kind of standardisation?

May be worth just reminding people that its worth asking Dublin to try a CP reboot in f the shutters won't open. Then managed to get me on the charge in minutes by doing a reset down the line,or over the mobile network. Top Man Joseph.

Sorry Dexter, haven't used it, what does Zoe say, is it BCI? It so happens I am in contact with Renault UK at the moment re charging, and they ask for a list of other problems/suggestions.

Haven't been anywhere near it. You are closer :) It's a triple standard DBT unit so it should be fine.

They rang me 2 days ago. I emailed ESB about repair times of AC charge points including 2 43AC rapids down for a few months. I CC'd Renault customer service and to their credit they actually phoned me back. ESB only send the standard "we'll pass it on to the engineers" email.

AC should be fine on that. Local i3 owners report that the CCS is down.
