Trying to get a date for my test?

Hello, just a quick query about getting a date.
I've had my name down since the dawn of time [ETA: I just checked my emails and I've been emailing them since last August, lord!) and had given my preferred dates to be around mid May to early June (travelling over the summer) but I have yet to be given an exact date. I'm just wondering if this is something that I can chase up or will it be a case of getting a call/email out of the blue telling my test is in X days? The last time I called (to give time frame of when I wanted to sit my test) they said it would be soon after the 1st of June. All well and good but soon after could mean that week or 2 weeks on!

As an aside, I friend then told me I could just get my driving instructor to book me in and that rules out the weighting procedure, is this true?

Just ring them and ask for an update.

I was in a similar situation, had to take it in a narrow timeframe because of work commitments, I was given three weeks' notice before the test.
