I love the REM guys answer to this when asked what his lyrics mean

its whatever it means to the fans.

so basically he doesn't know but someone will think deeply about it
and he gets paid so win win..

    It was denser.

It's a naff song, based around the Hunter S. Thompson quote - 'We're raising a generation of dancers'.

"dancers" meaning pussies in this regard.

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag?

    That's the real question.

The song is very clearly about a near death experience, and Spaceman (the next track) is about being revived and seeing everything differently.

    Epic songs, epic album.

I'll bite OP. Apparently this might be a lyric for some "pop artist"or "pop star" as the young ones say. I'll take it seriously.

    1) We can be both.
    2) Most of us are not dancers, not in any professional manner, so we are just humans.
    3) However it's an OR clause only one part of the sentence needs to be true for the sentence to be true.
    4) The answer is therefore yes. All of us humans are either humans, or dancers, or both.

I am assuming that the performers are humans. For instance the Wombles, shy creatures who live in wimbledon common and clear up trash, have a pop group and in that case the answer would be different unless the Wombles are all professional dancers.

I've always thought The Murders would be a great name for a Killers tribute band but then you'd have to cover their sh*te songs. :o

Such a waste you took it upon yourself to comment on a thread which you have already acknowledged is a waste of time?

While some have argued that Flowers lyrics aren't grammatically correct, others have claimed that he actually sings “denser” instead of “dancer”. In an interview with MTV, Flowers confirmed that the lyric was “dancer” and that it was taken from the Hunter S. Thompson quote - 'We're raising a generation of dancers'
