Would I be completely mad to let off a few cows and calves this weekend? Have nothing except a few yearling bullocks let off yet. My fear is letting calves out, with the forecast for cold and wet weather.

I would keep them in if possible, nothing worse than looking at stock hunched up at the ditch

No real problem keeping them in. Have plenty silage for them. Just don't like having them inside for this long.
Should have said that where I plan to put them they would have access to an old shed. Not bedded or anything but if they were cute enough to go in they would be out of the wind and rain at least.
    Decisions, decisions!!

They'll find the shed if its there... shake some straw round it and it should be ideal.

What's the opposite of that dogs and dairy?;)

Here's one for reggie if he's lurking around.
I was at a farm walk today and a guy specialising in minerals said that by aerating the ground you expose the soil to the air and oxidise the iron in the soil releasing 20 units of nitrogen to the grass plant.

Lots of vaccines have very short use bys once opened.

It's worth reading the leaflet in the box because each vaccine is different.

A lot of those vaccines have to be kept in the fridge too. The first year I bought the BVD vaccine, I never put it in.
