is there a legal reason why tractors, diggers , trailers and tele handlers dont have to be tested road worthy?
i regulary see vehiles that i would think twice about using on farm never mind on the road.
it seems a bit odd that anything is aceptable for agri vehicles.
private and commercial vehicles are all tested to ensure they are safe and in working order.
theres little in the respect of weight limits small tractor huge loads seem norm with the view if it can tow it its ok but its stoping thats the problem.

I think there were some changes in the last year. In particular, there are requirements to marking the vehicle's top speed externally.

The pollution-type tests used on car might not make sense with work vehicles. It would be difficult to give a JCB something line a Euro NCAP rating, so making sure they continue to comply with such ratings isn't practical.

Road safety tests aren't as necessary as they are with cars, bus and good vehicles given the low tops speed of most such vehicles.

    thanks for thr reply,
i havent seen one sign on any tractor and i bet if i said it to any of the local farmers they would try sign me in somewhere :D

they do have a low enough speed most 50kmh the odd 80kmh but i was thinking about towing weights too,a tractor might pull a huge load but stopping the load can be a huge problem, also the size of some of the newer ones they are massive if anything happened that something broke and caused a accident just because it was never tested,im guessing thats why when a car is 4years old it needs to be tested to ensure safty which seems fair to be realistic a lot can happen to a vehicle in even 4 years.
imagine 10 15 20 yrs of never seen any kind of mechaical testing..

i hope my reply does not sound like im trying to argue with you i just curious
