Zafria 1.9 cdti sri, maybe engine problems

Just recently bought this car on done deal, 06 it is and engine giving problems. Someties it stars in the morning and other times it doesn't. First time we put jump leads on and started, 2nd time we forgot jump leads and started on the bump and this morning, I started it twice for a min then went back into house, 3rd time went to start and woudnt start, then sounded like it was dying as in battery dieing. Tried about 6 times then gave up incse I flooded the engine.

Someone mentioned it sounds like the battery, got attery checked and they said it was fine thou it has had the black dot showing on battery which suggests its bad thou this morning it was green.

Kicking myself for buying this of a guy on donedeal thou at the time, I really needed it. Hopefully its nothing to serious but starting to think it is and the guy selling it knew his and just wanted to off load it t a fool lke myself

Anyone recognize these symptoms ive mentioned above.

Any warning lights showing on the dash? When you are up and running and driving it is there any issues? What kind of miles have you put on it since you bought it and has there always been issues?

Was the guy the owner of the car or a part time dealer?

Private sale

No light when drivng, only when starting and only drove a few hundred miles. Wasn't to bad first week thou it didn't start once but in saying that, only own it about 3 week.

Did you get the starter checked? I had the same issues with our Almera. Got the starter reconditioned and problem solved. Could also be your battery needs to be replaced. I'd ask a mechanic to be honest. He will tell you quickly enough

First thing I would do is swap the battery.

Was supposed to leave it in to mechanic yesterday thou he did check battery and said it was ok. He was looking it over night to check the battery cold but we needed it and couldnt leave it in.

If it is the starter, isn't there a clicking noise when trying to start?

Is the car turning over when you try to start it or just dead? Could be glow plugs if its turning over but not starting. Other possibles could be fuel pump, diesel filter if it's turning over.

YEa turning over but like dying after a few turns. starts on a bump then after driving awhile, it starts ok again. another thing, after filling wih water or coolent,it needs topped up again after a few days.

Sounds very like a failing battery.

Get the coolant leak checked out as it could be anything from leaking hose to head gasket
