Hi, I paid my staff their wages online yesterday afternoon from our AIB account as usual so they would have them today but the staff with BoI accounts say they have not received them yet.  My AIB online banking say the payments have completed and went out of our account yesterday.  Will they go through toay?  If not, when?  Thanks.

    Hi wily minx,

Thank you for getting in contact with us here on Boards.ie.

As there is a European bank holiday today this may impact credits due into accounts from other domestic banks.

The processing time will depend on the sending bank so it would be best to contact AIB directly to query this.

    We hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Elaine

And you can add all our own bank holidays to that list too presumably. I find it a bit ridiculous that despite it not being a bank holiday in Ireland an Irish bank to Irish bank transfer can't be processed. Especially when we are all encouraged to use this method rather than good old fashioned cheques/cash. Thankfully my staff wages seem to have gone in today.

Also this is a totally computerised system!

Have the computers become sentient and demanded trade union recognition and holidays?!

The is only the TARGET closing days and Irish bank holidays. All banks transfer their SEPA transactions through TARGET. In the case of BOI there is an extra hop as SEPA (and international) transaction processing has been outsourced to another bank.

To answer the OP's question, your BOI staff will probably have to wait until Tuesday to be paid and depending on the backlog built up it may not be until the afternoon before the money arrives in their accounts.

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

Tow - they went in today. It still leaves me looking like an idiot to my staff. My own wages go by standing order from BoI (every Friday) to an AIB account... I'll probably get them next Thursday due to the King of Spain's birthday or some other thoroughly valid reason!

I stil can't see how this should be an issue. It's not Bank of Ireland's fault but it makes SEPA look like a complete joke.
