    Hi,

maybe someone can answer this question for me. If a passenger departing loses their passport after passport control can they then leave the airport if they wish to do so.

    thanks.

Are you in the airport now? Is it Dublin airport? Have you lost your passport? Where are you traveling to/from? Are those my feet?

Happened to my little brother :( Poor guy has been living in the Burger King in Terminal 2 since 1984.

No. But this happened to a friend of mine departing from Barcelona airport but thankfully it was found and handed in, so all was well. However we wonder whether she would have been allowed to leave the airport without her passport.

They usually send you back on the next flight so they would probably just send you back where you haven't already gone.

Could be worse, imagine if he had been trapped in Supermacs.

Only yesterday I handed the man in front of me in the immigration q his passport after he dropped it... He looked at me as if I stole it. #idiot

In this case, the passport was found and the passenger continued their journey home to Ireland. However we wondered whether they would have been allowed to re-enter Spain without a passport. Have you technically left the country once you are checked through security and passport control ?

If you have some evidence that you were supposed to fly out but didn't I imagine they will let you back in. There must be other ways of confirming citizenship like a PPS number etc

O Neills shorts and a county jersey generally does it for most of us.
