Killarney Rally of The Lakes gets going tomorrow Friday.
Are many of ye going ?
I got a Rally programe during the week , always love to read it, full of adds and stuff but few articles in it.
there is a big home coming organised too in Killarney town tomorrow evening for local man Paul Nagle after his win with Kris Meek in Rally Argentina.
Saturday Stages start off with Molls Gap and then use the Healy pass, Cod's Head , Ardgroom and Killmackillogue and then return to Killarney for the night.
Sunday stages start with Molls gap again then over Ballaghbeama, Shanera and Rockfield.
Saturday stages are my favorite, and Sunday's ballaghbeama is so rocky how did they ever get a road built through it at all.
are there many rally fans on here, I always wondered ?

First time in about 6 years missing the lakes this year and to be honest I don't think Im missing out really. Granted, I'll be glued to the timing page all weekend but in terms of the rally itself, not having either Moffitt, Declan Boyle or Gary Jennings competing at the head of the field makes it much less of a specticle and even the National is a bit weak although the Lakes has been like that for a while. Thing I wont miss is the mood around the town for the weekend though. I might be a young fella but the craic you see going on would make you wonder how the rally is ever allowed go on. Got a fair shock last year when I came outta the hotel and had 4 lads standing around the door of my Corolla Gti and it was only the remote locking that sent them running

Ya, I'd have to agree. The event is attracting the wrong crowd and is slowly turning the residents against the event. I've no interest in heading to the lakes and its the knuckledraggers that it attracts like flies to a pile of sh1te that's the problem. I don't want to get held up by idiots testing their diff's (or even worse!).

Ive spoken to some of these when marshalling in Donegal. They were giving out about the "killjoys" who phoned the Garda when they were doing a few rings to support the rally. I tried to explain that its that behaviour that's turning residents off rallying, thus loosing their support and stages. The fools could not comprehend that they were killing the event.

We tend not to go the Killarney Rally as it's a fair trek away and a gang of us tend to make a weekend of it in Donegal instead. Husband was chatting a few last night organising about going to Carlow Rally this weekend and he was told that the Killarney rally wasn't great. There was apparently (cos we are only hearing second and third hand) reports that some media weren't well treated, some marshals weren't well treated and some marshals didn't do a good job. Having said that, that's all he told me and the rally was probably great otherwise!
