You need to book it a year in advance in all fairness, doubt you'll get accommodation, at this late stage, for this year :(

I decided to head over a couple of years back a week or two beforehand. Had to fly cause boats were booked. All worked out well.

Walked into a bar on the prom (Jaks) and the owner sorted us with a spot to stay just round the corner. Cheap enough too.

Bring a tent though, not everyone is as lucky as I am!

A gang of us have been going on and off since 2002, going this year for the first time without bikes, they got in the way of drinking last year you should still be able to book as foot passenger on ferry, most likely through Belfast though. Try homestay on tt website for somewhere to stay, locals rent out their houses for the couple of weeks, sure beats tenting it! I love the TT, if you have even a passing interest in bikes there is nowhere else like it in the world. Its hard not to get sucked in by the atmosphere, the locals love bikes, the TT is their bread and butter every year and they couldn't be more welcoming. This year is looking like it will be the closest racing in years, book it!

The atmosphere is good. So good, in fact, that I didn't actually manage to see any racing whatsoever while I was there!!

Great to see a bit of action tonight. Looks like Micky D is sticking with the R1. (It was just gossip).

    Haha!
I probably have a similar tale to yours.
    I booked a b&b for 4 nights.
Dropped my bag to the room when I arrived and the next time I saw the b&b was about 2 hours before my flight left for home.
The owner said the least he could do was drop me to the airport seeing as I didn't use the room.

What a bumper long weekend :pac::pac:
I did manage to squeeze in some racing though!

Sad news from the island tonight.

    Very Sad RIP

From the sad news of last night (RIP) to pretty crazy news this morning Michael Dunlop leaving yamaha in the middle of practice week? I know they'd be struggling with the bike so far but seems odd to leave a time mid meeting and go jump on another bike?

Nothing would surprise me when it comes to M Dunlop.

So the gossip was right. The r1 wasn't going to get anywhere near 6laps. The way it was burning oil last night ( & nw200) it's a wonder he dident get black flagged.

You can follow live timing for practice and during racing on http://ttlive.iomtt.com/

Live coverage on 1368AM [if you can get a clear signal] on online from www.manxradio.com on the AM link

F**k me that Yamaha was shaking the head all over the place. Pitching up and down a lot too.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

    No, there isn't.

If you're a sky customer you can get itv4 as an extra channel (a quick google will get the numbers you need)

If you're not a sky customer, try filmon.tv for itv4

Great, thank you! Have Sky and just googled set up ! Looking forward to watching tonight !

No racing today (Saturday) due to the weather. Sidecar race rescheduled for Monday

That will get the live ITV 4 feed but not the ITV player. I cant see the Highlights at 9pm each night so would love to see them on the ITV player.

Great race, looking forward to itv4 coverage . Hope Micky D is ok, bad luck getting caught up with the backmarker, I think he was going for the lap record.

There's a program called Hideaway (from firetrust, who own mailwasher) that allows you to hide your ip address.

You can download for free, it will work but pauses now and again. To remove the pauses, you've got to buy it.

Have used with bbc iplayer, should be ok for itv player too.

He was going for the win :)
The last lap he put in was nothing short of incredible! Real shame in the end.

Lack of setup time on the BMW cost MD, he might have done it if he had time on the bike but Anstey would have been hard to beat, he was super smooth.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 433 ✭✭MaggotBrain

I'm not sure anymore practice would have benefitted him. He was on a real charge in the later laps. If MD had a faultless pit he would have challenged Bruce and would have been equal odds to win. I'm delighted for Anstey and gutted for MD, but that's racing. Hope he's 100% for the rest of the week, but it seems he took a pounding from his off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,611 ✭✭✭✭blade1

This is all I could find on MD's crash
Did they show it on ITV?
I was working so missed it.

It has been a long road of recovery for him fair play, was watching him at the NW200 and he was well quick.

Man arrested at the TT and sentenced to 8 weeks in prison and banned from the Isle of Man for walking on the road when they were closed during the delay yesterday.

Maybe a bit harsh, a ban is bad enough but jail for 8 weeks.

What happens when the roads are reopened and a spectator walks into the path of a bike doing 190mph because he didn't know the roads are reopened?
    It wouldn't be good.
Thats what deterrent sentences are supposed to do.
Its a fast bit of road and having some drunk numpty abusing the marshals and acting the twat is just asking for trouble, he must have done more than just walk up the road if he was charged with public order offences as well.
Good on the IOM, I hope he enjoys his last stay on the Island.

Completely agree, will soon deter anyone else from doing it when they get a sentence like that. Complete disregard for the rules and for there own safety.

Good to see it enforced, seen plenty of near misses to often.

Sure what time did the race finish ? Bit much to expect them to edit a race and have it ready to air in less than an hour .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 953 ✭✭✭Nodster

Well they did show the sidecar action at 1.05 AM
I'm sure they'll show Supersport 1 and the Stockers tonight @ 9pm and as an added bonus 'Joey, the man who conquered the TT' @ 10pm
