    Found this growing in my garden and wondered what has sprung up in a quiet corner? The leaves are very smooth, almost silky.

    Looks like a sycamore seedling. Pull it up unless you want a tree in that corner.

    Pointed lobes look like the less common Acer platanoides to me. Sycamore leaf more rounded

    Leave it there until winter. Pull it (try to keep root intact) and plant it somewhere where it could be long term viable.
