Hey all. I'm looking for a bit of info, does anyone know if there is anywhere in Ireland where you can just turn up and maybe get a guide and equipment to go shore/rock fishing.

Is there anyone offering a service like this anywhere in Ireland?

Ideally you go, meet a local that knows where to fish and can take you there, what tackle to use and can supply equipment if needed. Thinking of a shore fishing weekend with a couple of the lads but not really bothered where so long as there is fish to be caught

Paul harris in adrigole on the beara peninsula does something like this. He runs a b&b and helps out the guests with the fishing. Im not sure if he rents gear out and actually guides but he provides detailed maps and give good instructions on what bait and tactics to use.
    hes worth contacting anyway

hes got excellent wrasse, dog, huss, conger and ray fishing a stones throw from the house

A guide will charge €100/150 per angler depending on how many is there. AFAIK paul is free so if you went with that option you could put the guide money towards grear if you dont have it. For €100 youd get a decent rod, reel, line and lures that would do for pollack and wrasse and youd have them to keep for another trip. A tronix pro lure rod and a shimano catana reel would be perfect and about €85/90. Braid is best and about €30/35 but would have enough for 2 reels.

There was a guy in Sligo that was doing this a while back, rental lessons etc.
Sorry I don't know his name but a bit of googling or contacting Barton Smith's in Sligo town might help.

For some excellent fishing try John Quinlan who is based in Ballinskelligs. He has been operating for 15 years now and specialises in Lure and fly fishing from rocks and reefs in South Kerry for Bass, Pollack, Mullet. Great guy and excellent reputation he operates the "ThatchedCottageireland" and offers all in accommodation, etc as well. Put the name into google and take a look at his site:
