Interesting looking and I'd say they'd look cool on the Mastiff.
Won't look so cool though if I end up on my hole the minute I push 'em a bit.:pac:

Have a look at some of the reviews of them...absolutey terrible tyres.
Don't risk binning your pride and joy for the sake of saving a few euro.

Absolutely nothing to do with saving a few euro.
They are the same price as pr3's I bought a couple of months ago.

    Reviews?
This guy seems to be doing ok on them

Well I can vouch for the PR series, the PR4 is just an incredible piece of rubber.

I'd have no problem sticking any of the pr series on it.
    Just curious about these.
    Also looking at Dunlop Mutants.

I'd like to try something different.
Not sure what I'll go for yet.

    Why?
    Are the Mutants bad?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,459 ✭✭✭zubair

Haven't used maxxis before but have used some of the the usual suspects, Dunlop, Bridgestone, Metzeler & Michelin.

The Michelin PR4s really are brilliant compared to anything I've used so far.

Throw away remark blade1, apologies, I fúcking hate Dungslops with an irrational passion :o

    ^^^ Sweet looking tyre.

As for the Maxxis, if they were within a budget I'd try most tyres and rarely pay too much heed to most peoples opinions ~ apart from mileage the vast majority of riders aren't pushing their rubber to much over 40 or 50% of the tyres potential.

I know the PR3's and 4's are popular, but in my opinion they're no better than their rivals, and in my opinion they're a poxy looking thread pattern.

Can't wait to try them out!
I love the look of them.

Check 'em out on this CX

I had a CX which I sold to my brother about 15 years ago.
It was rotting away (spotless when I had it)until about a year ago when he decided he needed to do something with it.
So it's still being tidied up at the moment.
I wanted to buy it back off him and do something like that with it but he wouldn't sell it back to me.(he's a serial hoarder)

Yea they're going to look pretty cool on that.

I'd PR'3's fitted on my bike (R1100S) and the front worn awfully, I replaced it with a Bridgestone T30 and tbh I can't wait to junk the rear PR3 and only on the basis that its a poxy looking thread pattern.

Tbh I probably rode bikes harder 30 years ago and Dunlop TT100's than I do today, and I never had one of those let go!.

Anyway yea, you'r bike would look pretty cool with those tyres.

So after waiting at home for most of the day for DPD to deliver, they couldn't be arsed delivering to me.
Tyres returned to Depot without contacting me.

This isn't the first time they have done this.
About 50% of my orders get brought back even though they have them in the van.
My house is near the end of the round so I presume they don't bother because the driver wants to finish up early.
Get the same excuses if I ring them asking why it wasn't delivered which are "driver rang your phone but you didn't answer or no access to your road.
    Both a load of Bull!

Must drive 40 miles this morning to the Depot as I want the tyres for the weekend.

Maxxis Goldspeed were the best tyres I ran on a CCM 644.
Bought with Bridgestone, which I didn't like and tried Avon, but preferred the feel of the Goldspeeds.
Heard the Mutants were supposed to be very good also.

I have the Maxxis Supermaxx Diamonds on my VFR 750 and rate them as the best tyre I've had fitted. Been through 2 different version Bridgestone, Dunlops, Metzler and Pirelli (Diablos)

But I guess it really depends on how you ride and what you use it for

All good so far but I have only put 80 miles on them so haven't gone all Gung Ho with them just yet.
Bike feels solid even on loose chipping.
Turning feels good and can't fault them so far.
Trying some different pressures to see what feels best, I put 30psi front and back today but will try lower(front anyway, maybe back)just to see what works best.
