Hi, was wondering could someone help me.

I am currently receiving jobseekers allowance and receive payment of €187.40. My partner is working 40 hours per week and his gross wage on his recent p60 is €25,499.72. We have two children.

Could someone help me work out if we would be better off if he applied for family income supplement?

    Thanks

Can't figure out the calculations but check the fis web page on welfare.ie for information on it.
JSA is counted as income along with his salary.

It cut off depends on how many kids you have.

If he's only recently back to work he should apply for the BTW family dividend payment though its not getting paid out till the summer.
It will be backdated to the date of application.

Just to clarify BTWFD can only apply if both partners have signed off.

When I handed in my form 7 weeks ago I was told the summer. Things may have changed . if you hear differently please let me know.

Fis can be claimed if one is working the other not but Jsb/JSA is classed as income which may put you over the threshold.

We couldn't reactive my wife's illness benefit for this reason. We suspended it while I was out of work on the advice of the welfare officer so as not to use up her credits when I could claim for her as a dependent.
Though once its approved an increase in income is not taken into account for a further year so we can now claim for her.

"To qualify, you and all members of your family (including your adult dependant) must sign off all social welfare payments"

The above statement from Welfare website confuses me.

Say, a husband was in receipt of JSA and gets offered a job. Spouse not working or claiming SW. One child in secondary school, second child is 24 yrs old and has been working the last 4 yrs, but is now receiving JSB based on her PRSI contributions as a result of recent job loss.

Surely the 24 yr is not a dependent and does not have to sign off?

:confused:It would make no sense if they had to.
