Ventriloquist Keith Harris, famous for his act with his puppet duck Orville, died today aged 67, his agent said.

Robert C Kelly said Harris, whom he described as a "thoroughly decent man", was first diagnosed with cancer in 2013 and became ill again in January.

He said: "I spoke to Keith most days, whether we had business to do or not. I think I laughed every single time we spoke.

"Keith was not only a technically great ventriloquist, he was also a gifted mimic and an extraordinarily funny man both on stage and off.

"Perhaps even rarer than that in showbiz, he was a thoroughly decent man, a great friend and a wonderful father and husband."

Another childhood favourite has passed away. Famous for the talking, nappy wearing duck, Orville.

Though personally, my favourite was cuddles.

    RIP Keith.

Sad news. I remember going to see him in a pantomime in London, when I was about 6. I loved Orville! Didn't realise it till he called her up on stage, but we were sitting beside his wife. She gave out to me because I was shouting out that the woman on stage was a man dressed up, said I was ruining it. My Mum ate her :) !!

Why do people say sh1t like this? Your childhood was gone already, however you still have the memories. His passing hasn't wiped those memories away, you still have them.

    RIP. I loved Orville.

I'd say the funeral will look like a scene from A League of Gentlemen though....

I'm finding it to be a bit odd that we have yet to hear anything from Orville about this. We've had tributes from many others entertainers yet Orville has all the while remained completely silent.

Now I'm not accusing him of anything just yet - that would be hasty. But I would like to hear what he has to say for himself now.

Poor lad is stricken with grief. He's also quite old for a bird as well, even a flightless one.

Because he was a piece of my childhood and now he's gone.....

Kind of obvious I would have thought.

Its kind of like when you go back to a place you had an affinity with as a child and it triggers all the memories and feelings from that time. Equally seeing someone, even years later can do that. But now he's dead and it will only ever be captured in buts if archived footage.

Even as a child I thought his act was rather shite.

    RIP.
