So just planning a trip to Thailand for a few weeks at the start of August.
Any tips on must sees etc? I will fly into Bangkok and stay there for 2 nights then want to travel around islands etc.
also interested in Vietnam for a week or so maybe?

There's lots of islands, what are you looking for specifically? As in diving or just nice beaches or fancy hotels or just for a general look around. There's various ways of getting around the islands to suit how much time you would like to spend travelling and how much money you have. I know I say this a lot but 2 nights in Bangkok is not enough, lots to see and don't forget you'll be fairly jet lagged and if it's your first time in Thailand you'll be fairly overwhelmed and 2 days isn't quite enough to get used to it all.

There's a good thread in Travel on visa's for Vietnam, you could consider a week in Cambodia too.

    Hey ed
I'm not really into clubs nightlife as such. I like doing the " tourist thing" and seeing new places etc so would like to get a list of islands to visit. I will probably go for 1 month and possibly do 3 weeks in Thailand and a week in Vietnam possibly.

Get out of Bangkok. I've been there countess times, 2 days is adequate. All the fun lies past the capital. I had the luxury of driving over most of Thailand as my other half is Thai. Cambodia is great too, ankor wat awesome. Head to the islands down south of Thailand for fantastic times. Ko samui and you can do a 5 island krabi tour in a day trip.

Not been to Vietnam, Laos looks interesting too.
