Dachshund Rescue?

Serious question - are there actually any rescues in Ireland (ROI or NI) that deal with the breed either entirely or at least regularly? Are there any in the UK that would allow Irish adopters? Myself and OH are in love with the breed and have been for years. Obviously Opie and our household in general is a long, long way off a second furry addition, but we do know that if we decided to add one it would be another rescue, and if we could come across this breed (and obviously crosses of it), we'd be over the moon! Never seem to come across any for adoption, though :(

try contacting the IKC and get the details of the Breed Club Secretary. Sometimes breeders may take in rescues of the breed they work with but it might not be so public about it.

Heres is one of the links I found. http://www.irishdachshundclub.ie/site/. Worth contacting them anyway.

They do come up for adoption from time to time but not the most common breed, thankfully turning up in rescues.

A friend of mine recently adopted a Dachshund from a rescue here (not a specialist rescue though), she has adopted a few of them over the years from various sources, she just seems to find them!
Before the most recent dog, she had been making enquiries from one of the breed rescues in the UK and was about to get a dog too, but then the dog in Ireland came up.
I'll ask her how she went about it next time I see her!
