NCT centre waiting room tension

So I am currently sitting in a waiting room of the NCT centre, waiting for the bad news.

You could hear a pin drop in the room at the monent and the tension is at epic proportions (although I don't know why)

    Anyone have any thoughts?

Don't let them talk your baby down.

Do you have a pin to drop? Just to see if your theory is correct. Failing that stare through the window, make eye contact with one of the testers - in a 'puss in boots - about - to - cry' sort of way.

I like to watch them doing the test, just to prepare myself for the worst. If the tester calls someone else over and they both stand there scratching their heads for a minute, you know it's probably not going to be good news.

Wish the one in Galway was quiet like that, sounds very peaceful.

I'm out now, passed and all.

Mod, you can close the thread now, I just needed to get through that experience by typing on my phone so as to reduce the probability of another human being trying to engage in small talk with me :-)

Slip a €50 into the glove compartment. Works every time.

Kind of a joke in that NCT place.
My car failed NCT two weeks ago and I knew it would but I fixed it yesterday put new parts an all on it and found 4 other things wrong with it that them idiots didn't bother to check.

I failed on 2 cosmetic things, was waiting for a mate to come home from holiday to fix then for me, ballsed up the dates so that I had to get a full retest done about 33 days later. Catastrophically failed on about 9 things, including 2 "FAIL:DANGEROUS" and wasn't even allowed to drive the car away. Very glad I missed the smaller retest even if it was ridiculously stupid of me. Saved the seats falling out of the undercarriage which was basically made of rust.

Well smartArse I was assuming it'd fail on it's emissions and didn't have the time to check everything else.
So do excuse me if I don't laugh in pain at your smart comment.

Passed mine a while back, two weeks later a brake disc disintegrated due to corrosion. All 4 were bad, and needed replaced (just bought the car from NI). They're useless.

I think they should be failing rusted disc but it seems they don't if the brake performance is up to standard.

Feels like you're waiting in a principles office.

Didn't they do a study in America and it showed that .002% or something is caused by faults that would fail an nct.

    Another nice money maker.

Had mine this morning..engaged in small talk with a lovely woman. Time passed quickly eased the nerves and my baby blue passed! Yay for human interaction and all that good stuff :)

Put your head up against the glass and stare at the guy testing your car for the entire duration of the test. Don't blink.

I brought a car in for one once. I didn't like the whole rigmarole and decided not to go again. So I haven't.

So do you mean you keep a car new enough not to need testing or you just don't bother?

Once had a "Flintstone" car, the floor was so rusty that one day I was driving along the road and it fell off and skidded along the road!

The hole was about 30cm square, mate cut a bit of metal off a scrap car and welded it in the hole, the car passed the next MOT with flying colours, you could see daylight through the wings but that didn't matter. ;)
