Is it legal for kids or anyone in fact to go door to door with sponsorship cards from charities and ask neighbours for donations and to sponsor them. I remember as a kid in primary school being told to do this for charity and i did it with no problem, but now that I think about it, isn't is an easy way to scam people. Is it legal today to do so, or do you need some kind of permit or something like that.

No, ring the Gards and have them arrested.

No, ring the Gards and have them arrested.

Or you could have your doors removed.

I call door to door for parts of my job, and one of my customers gave me this print out for my window

Haven't seen a door to door job salesman since... :)

We used to have kids from the local primary schools calling to the door for sponsorship on a weekly basis and it was a pain in the ass. In the end we stopped answering the door. Most of the kids would be on their own with no sign of a parent in sight and I used to wonder who in their right mind would let their child go knocking at strangers doors, it could end horribly. We haven't had any going door to door for a few years so it must've stopped.

So is it something that is illegal now or just mainly something that is frowned upon and no longer done really anymore.

Tbh, I'm not sure. I think the school's must need a licence to do it. A year or so ago there were a couple of secondary school lads doing a fake collection door to door and there was a warning on the town Facebook page about them. I remember seeing the 2 of them in school uniform and thinking they looked shifty as hell, and that was before I heard they were scamming people. Just don't give to them. We only ever gave a couple of euros per time to little kids that we recognised from our street.

We used to do a sponsored walk every year in primary school. We would be given a card and when you filled it that was it. £1 and 20 spaces on the card. For the last couple of years I managed to acquire a couple of extra cards and pocketed the money so because of me I give kids nothing.

It's not illegal but it's frowned upon these days I would have thought...

I know if my kids get a sponsorship card home from school or dance class then we'd either fill in the card ourselves or ask family members to sponsor them if they visited or if we were out at an event.

No asking strangers for money and no worries about them knocking on strange doors!

Sad state of affairs that a kid can't knock on a neighbours door looking to raise a few quid for their summer trip to Disneyworld.

    Have you all no hearts?
