Need a complete overhaul of dated stuff in my house and looking to get a new kitchen, bathroom and set of bedroom wardrobes.
I had in my mind the usual cash & carry, sliderobes, robe plan etc then thought about Chadwicks. A friend said IKEA good but flat packing and me dont go together another person said Homebase or B&Q are better. Basically looking for a good range at a good price pick what I want and get a builder to fit it. Or maybe getting Cash and Carry where they fit it for you all in is a better option any advice?

Not sure about the kitchen and bathroom stuff but we recently got the IKEA PAX wardrobes and very happy with them. Yep a bit of flat pack involved and you do need some help (not a 1 person job!) but they went up fairly quickly and easily once the instructions were followed. Oh and if you really don't want to deal with the flatpack, you can hire people who'll do it for you apparently.

Looking at possibly doing our kitchen too so would also be interested in how people got on with the IKEA ones.

It is only me and Mam in the house so dont have a male family member to help with stuff :( Would have to look at getting a guy in to do all the stuff that is why I'm not sure about IKEA

I was just reading an interesting article on kitchens from Ikea/Cash& Carry/Cube

It is possible to have Ikea install their kitchens.

Seems you can get a kitchen for 5k and under depending on size and type.

I can't post the link because I'm a new user but if you google this phrase it will show up - it's from the Irish Indo last year so not too out of date

In IKEA there's assemble and fit service available. Price is good and quality is better than B&Q. System is much better.

We looked at the various suppliers when replacing kitchen, wardrobes etc. we liked the IKEA stuff but when we considered the flat pack, delivery and assembly costs etc it put us off . We ended up getting both kitchen & wardrobes from Cash&Carry Kitchens. We found them good to deal with and product and price reasonable, good fitting service etc. All in all our experience with them was good, perhaps a bit more expensive than IKEA or B&Q etc but less hassle and none of theDIY /assembly issues. Worth considering maybe ?

    Hi,

I am in the middle of renovating my house and bought 2 x 150cm wide & 1 x 200cm wide wardrobe and full kitchen with island for €8,200 in Kitchen world. The kitchen was €5,900 with extra high units and it has an island too. I'd highly recommend them.

NOTE - same has not yet been fitted - I might be giving a different opinion in a fortnight!!

    New Kitchen dishwasher/fridge/tiling/extractor fan

any luck since your last post miss choc? I think the problem is that the sky is the limit with regards what your looking for.
What I would suggest is that you go to tile, kitchen, electrical stores and get some ideas/ prices. Nothing really too specific but a massive help for anyone doing the work is to have an idea of what colours etc you'd like.
For example in the kitchen- what colour and style of door?. High gloss, hand painted ivory, cream, etc. etc. what type of worktop?? quartz, silestone, granite, wooden etc.
The same applies for the wardrobes really. My advice would be to get some brochures and see what you like.
The same applies for the tiles the world is your oyster you can get really cheap ceramics up to hand made tiles basically see what you like. the same for fixtures and fittings for the bathroom. And the electrics white/ silver make etc.
At this stage that's what will certainly help the prospective builder / fitter. Don't worry about any of the prices at the minute, when you do get someone reputable they'll spend the time to go through this with you, and give you alternatives for when you pick a set of taps for 400euro haha. Hope this helps.

    Not really yet
At the moment I have to send in the application form for the mobility grant awaiting earnings from welfare that is a process might take a few months I am hoping to get the shower room suite fitted with the grant and downstairs bathroom done at the same time. The place might give me a discount might start checking out places myself while I have the time will need a friend with me good to get a second opinion instead of the salesman trying to bribe me with the dearest stuff. Hard when you are trying to figure it all out yourself.

We're getting work done at the moment and our carpenter is fitting some kitchen stuff for us (extending it - not a new one). He said the IKEA kitchens are pretty good. He's fitted a few. So maybe you could get wardrobe and kitchen there and find a good carpenter/kitchen fitter to do it.

We got sliding wardrobes a few months ago from Tegre and we're pleased with them. It was €1000 cheaper than Skon or Skiderobes too. We considered the IKEA ones but decided against it as it was a very particular space we had with a chimney breast involved and I was ill at the time and just wanted to pay to get it done.

Thanks for that Woshy I would love the slide robes but couldn't afford Sliderobes as I have to get so much other work done and not working so watching the pennies. I have 4 open out fitted wardrobes in two small bedrooms so the slide ones would save a lot of space

Yeah, we got sliding wardrobes because our bedroom is very small and it's definitely worth it! Hopefully you'll be able to find something to fit into your budget. Getting anything done in the house is so expensive!
