I applied a few months ago for the position of Emergency Control Operator with the Fire Service in Castlebar. I got a letter back from them today advising that I got to the next stage of the application process, which is an exam, but didn't give much information about what that entails. I'm not looking for anything too specific, I know there are rules about that, but even clarification as to whether it's a typing test like the NAS application or aptitude test. It just says on the letter that it'll last for 90 mins and you use a computer!

Any help or insight greatly appreciated, and if this violates the rules, feel free to delete! Just hoping I don't go into the exam completely blindsighted!

    Thanks!

i did it a couple of years ago, for Fire Control in Camp West and from what i can remember of it, it consisted of a couple of sections:
one section was on Word. it gave a passage that you had to edit, change words, insert text boxes etc...
The next was on Excel. again formatting a spreadsheet, inserting rows and columns and editing cells.
There was a database test that you had to enter information into a database as you listened to it on headphones, and then a typing test. how fast you could type the passage you were given to measure words per minute.
Now not necessarily in that order. and from what i can remember, they did give us information on what was going to be tested, because i had to put a lot of practice in to my spreadsheets before the exam. I did the NAS test for Ballyshannon Command and Control and was WAY easier, and have a start date for that.
I hope this is the same exam and this info helps somewhat. Best of luck my friend!!
