Car Recommendations

Folks,
I am in the market for a car. The budget is about €12,000 ( I could stretch to 12.500 for the right car). I am looking for a car about 4 years old with a 1.4 litre. It will be used mainly for a 30km round trip to work Monday to Friday and very light use at the weekend. I was thinking of a VW Golf or Honda Civic or could look at alternative suggestions you may have i.e Hyundai or Seats. I have a full licence but due to a change in work have not driven for 3.5 years so as far as I know my no claims bonus will have to start from scratch hence the reason I don't want to go any higher then a 1.4 litre engine as the costs for insurance will start adding up. Any advice/pointers appreciated:D

Just because...Alfas are great craic, it's a 1.4 , it has 170 bhp...from a 1.4...looks great as well..

Hard to beat the Civic as an overall package IMO.

Civic would be a good choice, your budget would get you the later 1.4 ivtec engine which is less painful than the older i-dsi engine.
Double check insurance though, as some insurance companies are still in the 90s and see them as more of a risk.
