Langer Bio Advanced Orthotics for flat feet

Last year I found out that I have torn cartilage in my knee after a scan. I went to a physiotherapist and he recommended Langer Bio Advanced Orthotics as I have flat feet and these provide me with an arch when running. I paid 70 euro for them and have worked great for walking but not running

I am now suffering really bad with blisters on the arch of my foot. I have bought expensive running socks and blister plasters but after 3km the blisters form and I have to stop running.

Anyone any advice in regards to flat feet insole supports or how I can stop the blisters?

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. You may have to wait for the skin to harden up. I have flat feet too but don't use orthotics. Instead I wear Asics GT 2000 which have enough instep support for me.
    Best of luck!

    Thicker socks worked for me.

What happens when you run without orthotics?

Assuming that you can't run without them you could try getting a proper pair of orthotics from a podiatrist/orthotist. They're a lot more expensive but they'll be properly designed for you.

If you're dead set on using your current pair and just want to avoid the blisters you could tape up your feet. I used to use elastoplast - kind of like a tough second skin.

I run with lunarglide 6 which were recommended to me for flat feet. My knees hurt really bad without the insoles, it is just the blisters that ruin the run for me. I know I will never be able to run a marathon because of my knee injuries but I would love to be able to do a 10k without irritation from blisters.

I will try the tape and see how that goes and then I may consider buying a new pair of runners

    Thanks for the advice

A supportive guidance shoe generally is not a good mix with an orthotic. They should be fitted into a neutral shoe. This IMO is the cause of your blistering.

That actually makes a lot of sense, I never actually thought about it like that. I have 2 pairs of lunarglides, the newest (6) actually doesnt support the insoles as the arch goes up to high so I use my old pair of lunarglides.

I think I am going to buy a new pair of runners in elverys and see how I get on with them running, if it doesn't work then I can always use them for walking
