    He forgot to land the plane. That's a crash that ended very well. Still a crash though.

    I'm not familiar with Cessna 310, but on most light aircraft the warning is either an indicator light or a horn (or both) that are activated by throttle and flap position, for example - full flaps with idle or low throttle would activate the warning. That all works well if pilot actually does a full flap approach.. If pilot decided to do a landing with flaps halfway down or throttle was open (due to perhaps low angle on the glide slope or other factors) then the warning would stay silent as plane has no way of knowing what's about to happen. There are no fancy sensors in cessna 310.. also we must consider a possibility of the warning system being in-operational - Cessna 310 went out of production in 1980, as it often happens with older GA aircraft, not all systems work
