HI, looking to change the location of my vote for the referendum. I voted once in my life, approximately 14 years ago however I can't find my name or indeed any of my family members names who vote at every opportunity on the online register checker. Is there any way it could have moved without my knowledge to a more recent address?
Basically, my question is...how do i vote if im encountering this issue. I could fill in the change of location form but I feel that it could be rejected if they can't find my previous voting profile

Just get yourself added onto the supplementary register. Form RFA2

It won't matter if they can't find your record at your previous address - there's a section on the form which asks if you have been registered before and where. Just put down the most recent information you're aware of.

Your registration needs to be confirmed every two years, so it's not a matter of "moving" your vote if you're not registered. You're just re-registering at your new location.

Good on you Seamus. I'll fill it in, get the garda stamps...then I presume post it to my new local authority/council?

Keep checking the register to make sure you're not on there. I noticed a few people voicing concerns on social media over the last few days about their name had suddenly going missing from the register, but they checked a few hours later and they were back on there.

Contact your county council, I had the exact same problem as you did. None of my family members showed up on checktheregister.ie, but I was told that we were when I emailed the county council.

The register doesn't seem to be accurate, I can't find myself on it and a few of my friends have the same problem, even though we're all registered. The data they're using is a mess, there are at least seven variants of my street on it (some with north/south added, some with extra commas, some with a house name included in the street name row).

So, filled the form in....got it stamped and posted it in the council's letterbox 24 hours before the deadline.
Will I get confirmation by mail or will I just toddle down on voting day and expect to be on it? Apologies, way too long since I voted embarrassingly enough.

I dont know ghost. But I urge you to go down to the polling station next Friday and at least find out if you can vote.

In my experience the online register is not always completely realtime. Some years ago I wasnt on it but when I rang the council they said I was.

Don't ever tell a politician at the door that you won't vote for them. The register does not appear to be secure. Some people seem to be able to add and delete your name from there at will.

All sorted. Thanks for the sterling advice folks.

Glad you sorted it out. But its a reminder that political apathy comes at a price. As they say use it or lose it. And rember selfies are banned inside the polling station for voter privacy reasons. And it's an X not a tick.
