Traffic delays and disruption on the M74 in Scotland this morning after a dog drove a tractor on to the motorway.

A dog has caused long tailbacks on a busy motorway after taking control of a tractor and driving it out of a farmer's field during rush hour.

The bizarre incident was reported by Traffic Scotland at junction 13 of the M74 in South Lanarkshire.

The transport body tweeted: "M74 (N) J13-RTC due to dog taking control of tractor... nope, not joking.

"Farmer and police at scene, vehicle in central res.

It was reported that the dog had leaned on the controls of the tractor, taking it from a field on to the road

Traffic Scotland stated it was the 'weirdest thing they've ever reported'

It's barking mad tbh! Feel sorry for anyone caught up in the chaos this morning - it's a bit ruff for them alright.

And the question on everyone's lips of course is:

    The dog's been questioned.

She said it was an accident but I don't know if I quite believe the bitch.

    Sounds barking mad.

The dog will get some ruff justice when this gets to court.

    Might have been a Toyodog.

I bet the dog was still a better driver than the typical Audi driver.

That could have been a catastrophe.

Wrong species there. I think you were barking up the wrong tree with that one. Or letting the dog run away with the bone.

There’s already a video put up on youtube of Don (the dog) reacting to the allegations made about him on this very thread. This is a rough transcript

    Don: Ruff!!
They would have collared him earlier but the police had no leads.
    Don: Grrrr …. Ruff!

Don: Ruff, Ruff, Ruff, Ruff, Ruff, Ruff ...

… at this point the video ends abruptly with Don being led away visibly upset.

    Don't be so dogmatic.

...but the cops were barking up the wrong tree trying to fine him on that one.

He was crashing through the dog clutches on his gearbox while driving. He'll get a big kick up the big end when caught and he's piston every tree in sight.....

That could have been a catastrophe.

Especially if a cat had ran across the road while he was driving.

The police have said he was trying to flea the scene.
