Just put down a deposit for the above. Not doubting the shop staff as they recommended a size 56.I am 5'4 and I know the cube is a little smaller than the usual but is the 56 a bit big?

Cube's size up very small, but having said that 56 does sound big. I'm 5'7" and ride a size 53 Peloton, although my legs are short relative to my torso...

I would say thats too big...unless you have particularly long arms/torso.
I am 5'7", had a bike fit done and based on that am getting a cube in a 53.
If you look at the geometry of the cubes the 53 is roughly "true to size"(its actually bigger @ 53.5) the 56 is 54.5 and the 50 is a 52.5.
So when people say they come up small that is only true above 53...below it they come up big...
You could possibly be looking at a 50 but no bigger than a 53.
    Marty.

That's not a good size for you. I'm 5 7 and I have a 53 and I had to change the seat post as it was set back by 2 cm. I have a Cube Attempt (former name). My friend who is 5 10, got a cube peleton, 56cm frame and it fits good. I'm baffled how they could recommend a 56cm for you.

Cubes website recommend the 56cm for anyone from 5ft 6 to about 5ft 8ish. Which I'm not sure about as I mentioned my friend is 5ft 10 and on that frame and it fits perfect. .. either way it's too big.

and the fact that you have a longer than average torso for your height would put you into a "taller" bracket when selecting frame size.

What length is the stem on your 53?

I'll have to check when I get home, I thought I changed the stem but got mixed up with another bike. I just about get away with the 53cm and current stem, shortening it by a few CM might make a marginal difference but not enough to warrant the investment and that was based on the advice from the bike fitter.

    Marty.

True, was between a 53 and 56 but ended up going for the 53 with a 120mm stem as the reach felt too short with the stock 90/100mm stem.

I'm also one of these 5'7 53 Cube clones. I definitely wouldn't want any bigger.

Another person here who is 5 foot 8 and a bit riding a 53cm cube peleton. Definitely would believe that 56cm would be too large.

Go back to the shop and ask if you can try the two sizes. Even if they don't have demo in stock they may have one in for service you can throw leg over. Also cube agree is I think same geometry as peloton, so if they have that in the other size you can try that.

I ride a cube and at 5'11 I'm on a 56 which fits just fine. 56 seems a little on the large side. But none of us are the same size so really depends on leg length, torso etc.

Id say too big, Im 5 ft 8 and have a 56 but with an 80mm stem as the bike is a little big.

Thanks for all the info, will give shop a ring later.Might be able to pop in on Thursday as well just to be certain.Havnt been on a bike in a while any advice on shoes and pedals? Will be comuting every day so prepaired to pay a few quid but don't need anything spectacular.

    That'll be to big I'd say. I'm 5'11 I was fitted to a 56 cube.

I'd go with the smaller frame for definite it's easy to make a small frame fit larger but you can't shrink a larger frame.

    Nice bike though enjoy.

    I got these:

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/ie/en/s?q=shimano+r550+spd-sl+road+
The look good, not too heavy and spin nicely.

    and these

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/ie/en/shimano-r064-spd-sl-road-shoes-2014/rp-prod69973

Not slickest or sexiest looking but they are decent quality and good entry level shoes if you dont want to invest too much at the beginning.
