Honeymoon with Trailfinders

I have been in negoiations with trailfinders for the last month or so trying to get the honeymoon package just right.

We visited the Dublin shop and then I hav been in constant contact with the rep over telephone and email. I have to say he has been excellent help and very patient as we have asked loads of questions and made loads of changes at different times.

He had quoted us prices for certain hotels but then the other half was looking at other places on trip advisor so we asked him if we could get prices for three other hotels in the area we are going. He said he would oblige and that some of the hotels weren't on their system so he would have to request them and get back to me.

So I did my own research whilst he was away on booking.com etc.

He came back with the identical rooms I had researched and I couldn't believe what he found:

Hotel 1 €300 more than I could get
Hotel 2 €700 more than I could get
Hotel 3 €1200 more than I could get.

Just wondering how I should handle this - He's been pretty good up until now and I would really like to give him the sale.

Are their any drawbacks to me booking everything myself?

Generally there shouldn't be any issues with booking it yourself. I booked our honeymoon by ourselves but I've also booked some trips through Trailfinders. I generally go with the best value. I know our honeymoon (Tanzania) worked out much cheaper by booking it ourselves.

The only potential issue I could think of is if connecting flights changed before you went they might be able to help you out getting it sorted??

If you're getting better prices elsewhere for the hotel, but not for the flights, book the flights through TF and book the hotel yourself.

He'll get the business for the flights from you at least.

We booked our holiday in Peru and Brazil for June through Trailfinders and we are booking our own accomodation in Brazil as we can get it cheaper. Trailfinders shouldn't care if you prefer to book it yourself

This is what we did and it was a good thing too as one of our return flights changed and they rang us to let us know...even though we were on the other side of the world and it was 6 months after we had booked the flights with them.

I booked long haul flights and one hotel through Trailfinders for my latest trip as they had a good deal going on free nights and a free upgrade. My other arrangements such as a short flight, travel insurance and hotels in other locations were all booked online by myself.
