Way too many crucifixes and Christian icons to get a free breakfast.
    Insidious

Not to mention the big TV and skybox in her flat!!!

Unbelievable how self entitled are in this country.

Another pram pusher the state has to support. Lots of potential not used

If that ceiling fell on a child I'd say there's a big pay out for someone!!

    Soapbox for Bob Jordan

The irony of welfare recipients cheerleading increased rent supplement and giving our taxes to private landlords.

This is not the forum for social welfare bashing

If this continues in the vein it has started there will be warnings/cards and if continues further thread will be closed

Fwiw I am impressed with what I've seen so far, young woman, raising two children, trying to get out of the poverty trap by going to college, and in the meantime managing a small budget pretty well.

I wouldn't live in that flat though, not a chance!

I'm paying for the banks only just after saying she doesn't work and has no intention of getting a job.

Agreed. Housing stock in pathetic conditions and local authorities with no monies to repair same. They're either boarded up and left vacant or occupied and in dangerous condition.
Amazing all the same that intervention from a Govt TD and media coverage and result in almost instantaneous repairs.!!

The girl is doing a good job considering her circumstances and fair play to this TD to do this documentary.
But there is no analysis of the actual issues.
I'm more depressed that optimistic having viewed this.

Yes that flat needs a total refurb. That fuse box etc was not up to spec. Unfortunately there is no funding to upgrade stock, hardly any to build. Still at least she got something done

I would love to see Burton or Kenny survive for a few weeks on basic minimum wage salary or dole

Chewy lewy, what you are posting here has nothing to do with television. Take your agenda elsewhere (preferably nowhere on boards.ie) and do not post on this thread again please

Can't hep but thinking that the TD Catherine is a bit like Bill Cullen, working class for her own benefits. Salt of the earth but lining her pockets.

I'm more upset that politicians of all hues get involved in local housing, SW, medical card issues etc. People should qualify on their own merits so long as they meet the criteria involved.
The tradesmen who fixed that young girls house probably walked past 50 other homes in similar conditions.

It would be interesting to hear if the two adjoining properties were also remediated. If her ceiling was that bad so was her neighbours. The only difference being a govt TD made the call on her behalf.
