    Just a heads up for anyone with a W211 (E class 03 -09)
My one died on Mon morning and ended up in a Merc indy specialist with STAR diagnostics.
He found that a previous owner had soldered 150amp so that it wouldnt blow. How it didnt go on fire I dont know....I asked him to have a look at the red battery light that came up everytime I started the car.
He found that water in the boot had got into the battery control unit that is situated under the lip of the boot and had corroded the connections.
He reckons that it could have been water that was blowing the 150 fuse as well.

That battery control unit needs to be repalced by a blank ie non coded from Mercedes at a cost of around E700 .Red check battery light gone out and SBC H now back working!

He said water usually comes in via the rear lamp units.

So if you have an E CLASS and power wash it or use a forecourt car wash check for water under your spare wheel. You may save yourself a large wad of cash.
