    Seriously considering buying one of these, a friend is emigrating and I've always loved it. It's 2005, with 70k odd miles and FSH, for ~3.5k.

    Thoughts? Is it just a money pit that'd be impossible to sell on? Has anyone here owned one?

    Rare enough car over here but would be difficult enough to sell on in this country alright but then again the current price reflects that. But hey if you want it and are happy with the running costs then go for it.

    theres loads of cars id love to own with big engines but i just couldnt justify paying the bloody road tax

    Once you drive a car with a big engine, you can justify it, believe me :P

    OP, they're a rare car and one which a lot glance over in favour of the 1.8T, however I don't think it'd be too hard to shift in the future as it's rarity and the engine will stand to it I think!

    Buy it, drive it for a year, reflect, I guarantee you will have enjoyed yourself. You can then either sell it on at minimal depreciation or look to export it to the UK for even more cash and a VRT rebate.

    Once you drive a car with a big engine, you can justify it, believe me :P

    OP, they're a rare car and one which a lot glance over in favour of the 1.8T, however I don't think it'd be too hard to shift in the future as it's rarity and the engine will stand to it I think!
    i had a 1990 volvo 760 gle it was 100 pounds to tax in england in 1996 and when i brought it home with me it was 1280 quid to tax for a year kept for a year and sold it

    Then you obviously didn't like that car enough to justify the tax :P

    I'll keep saying it, if you don't look back everytime you walk away, you bought the wrong car.

    loved it couldnt afford it fantastic comfort
    i then bought a 1989 peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 which i still have and i also own 1990 RENAULT 5 gt turbo raider
