hi , I was wondering if anyone has some advise , I lost my business , my marriage and my home in the last few years , I am a parent to 3 school going children , I am now in receipt of unemployment assistance and seeking work , my family home was sold to pay debts and I have been renting privately for approx the last two and a half years , I have now run out of money and my landlord has advised he is raising the rent which has put me in the position of needing to apply for rent assistance , I collected the forms today , and was told I need to be asessed by the council , so I went there and got the forms , I see theres one for revenue that needs stamping , but I gather I wont be able to get it stamped as it makes refrence to income tax relief and I assume that , having once owned a property , I may have claimed this relief in the past , I assume this now prevents me from completing the necessary forms and I am wondering what on earth I am going to do if I cant get this form stamped . Does anyone have any advice? When I go to revenue , I assume they will refuse to stamp the form .The house was sold in 2012 .

That form is just for revenue to confirm that you don't owe any tax.
If uou don't have an outstanding tax bill then you are fine.

Also you have been renting privately over 6 months. You do not NEED to be assessed by the council as having a housing need to apply for Rent Allowance, although it is no harm to do so as you can go on the housing list for the future that way.
