I'm currently looking for an 05/06 auto petrol accord and am confused on the differences between specs there seeem to be Sr,Dr and executive models

Can anyone summarise them and the differences?

SE is the base model - electric windows all-round, remote central locking, cd player and climate controlled air con.

SR added an electric sunroof and alloy wheels I think.

Sport - half leather seats, red sports dials, different alloy wheels, cruise control, folding mirrors and front fog lights. I think they may have had a boot spoiler too.

Executive is the top spec model - electric heated leather seats, electric sunroof, cd changer and headlight washers.

UK models tend to have Sat Nav and the 2006 facelift model got a redesigned front grill, headlights plus larger wheels and the Type S replaced the previous Sport.

Thanks on an 05/06 how much of a premium would you expect to pay for the higher specs?

Not a huge amount at this stage of their life I'd say all being equal. But a tidy base model would probably be worth a bit more than a raged Executive.

    Nice tidy looking one here:

Dirt cheap compared to autos I've been looking at, I'd really prefer an auto due to a very dodgy knee and hip in my left leg.

That's 1600 less than what equivalent autos are going for.

I just can't justify that difference even from a dealer.

I'd have said about 4k for an auto of the same spec, but viewed one from a dealer at the weekend (that had a dead battery, was on the second floor and was going to take an hour to get on the road) and they were looking for 4.7k for it!

I'm getting to the point of while loving autos, realising that as most of my mileage is long distance it really isn't worth the premium

And thanks for that link, it looks a very nice car.

You will always pay more from dealer but I'd don't see much extra value in buying a 9/10 year old car from a dealer.

Here is a 06 auto base model for similar money. Not the best spec and it's a private sale but it claims to be a one owner car with a full history:

yeah, forget main dealers ffs. Its ancient by now. But a fine car indeed but be weary of parts, lets just say it will cost more than an astra to put right. With that in mind a very good service record would be pretty crucial.

He's a deposit one and was looking for 5k straight full stop which I thought was excessive :)

    I'd prefer leather over auto.

The auto never sold in big numbers and most would have been base models so your choice is limited. If you have time on your hands then one may pop up at some stage.

    What about a Volvo S60?

Not as bombproof as a petrol Accord and probably a bit thirstier but they are fairly robust and ultra comfortable.

Weirdly the S60 is one of my second choice cars, I know my mechanic hates the current round of volvos especially the turbos so I've never considered them

I think I'd still wait for the auto accord with leather but will look at that car after talking to my mechanic.

He has a mate who deals in mercs and myself and the oh have a wishlist of ending up with two clks, but I really need a car of my own which I don't have at the moment, I did 2,5k miles last month which is unusual but need a reliable car.

After some mismatches with alfas I'm now in sensible land, and realise I need a car that will start come rain or shine :) so I'm very focussed on that.

Our experience with mercs has been surperb they seem bulletproof. Driving conservatively I can get 45 mpg out of ours, it's like driving on the sofa, and when required to overtake it does.

I think I'm driving too much but with no storage for a weekend car, one that meets the above is what I most need :)

edit I've now missed out on three accords by hours. they seem to be an incredibly popular car, apart from the one I saw in the stroppy dealership

Yeah those Accords are a good car. People don't mind paying a bit more in motor tax for them in the knowledge that a little more in motor tax is probably the only thing outside of regular maintenance that they will have to spend on them.

Had a 94 Accord petrol myself many years ago and nothing was spent on it other than servicing and tyres.

Right thanks for your advance, I'm gonna ring the dealer tomorrow and have a chat

Is 4.5 k for a well serviced 05 accord auto with leather and history too litle:

Not really imo, it's 10 years old after all. Make an offer of what you think is a fair price for it and see what they say.
