Festival fashion - alternative to shorts

So, seeing as we are coming into festival season and I am both fashion and festival obsessed, I said now was the time to post this thread.

Every summer I have the same problem with festivals regarding what to wear. I love the boho festival looks but I never know what to wear because while I would love to be able to wear denim shorts, I can't as I hate my legs! It's the same with cute dresses, I'm quite tall and they are all so short on me without tights that I would feel really self concious all day at a festival.

Im a size 16 and I honestly rarely get the pins out (in Ireland anyway) without my trusty black opaques which I feel I always stick out in if I wear them to a summer festival under shorts.

So, Im hoping you nice people will have some suggestions for me! :-)

I was flicking through this article earlier... maybe it could be some inspiration to you.:)

How about the maxi skirts with thigh high slits?
Think I am going to invest in one of those for myself. :D

Also knee length dresses or dresses with frills or crochet trim at the bottom would be nice with summery knee high boots or some knee high gladiator sandals, those would take the attention away from your legs.

I would not advise re maxi skirts - just think of them dragging on the ground of a portaloo and if the grass is wet you'd regret big time!

I think a cute knee length dress or leggings/skinny jeans tucked into willies would be better.

I don't have great legs myself so have often worn shorts, black tights and willies and I think that looks fine also!

You sure like your willies ams!

Those €4 Penney's leggings are the basis of pretty much any festival outfit I'd consider.

I bring knee length and maxi dresses and put leggings on underneath them when it gets a bit later in the evening as you can get cold having been awake for so long.
