    Hi all,

I am with sky on an adsl2+ line, 13mb/s closer to 10 on a good day, however in the evnings it sometimes can go to 2mb/s or lower, hughely high ping at times, cant stream, so frustrating.

Went through the usual crap with sky but of course it works fine when I ring, they did say they heard noise on the line, so raised an issue and have changed things about with the line.

Does this sound like a crap line or throttling or what? any ideas, im going nuts...

    STATS:

    DownStream Connection Speed 13575
    UpStream Connection Speed 1020
    VPI 8
    VCI 35

Line Attenuation 34.5 dB 15.7 dB
Noise Margin 4.8 dB 13.13 dB

Wish fibre would come to my town :(

    Thanks guys.

Your dSNR is too low, when the lines around yours become busy your data will just turn to a load of error corrections nuking bandwidth.

Have them set you to 12_1 and see if that snr rises to above 6. If so great, if not then you've got a line issue that needs further investigation.

Hi, thanks for that; I'll need to give them a ring, just conform, get them to sync my router at 12down 1 up?

How long should I wait before I check the noise again?

Could it be to do with internal wiring or is it the physical line to my house? have the router plugged into the master socket, no other sockets in house used. Have Eircom faceplate which splits the line to internet and phone, have it all plugged in there!!

    Thanks a lot.

Yep, they can set 12_1 DSLAM side, half an hour later will give you a good idea.

The filtered NTU and setup you've described makes it more likely to be external.

    they don't.

dsl is just prone to this kind of stuff.
