Is this a decent offer from IBood today? Need a new device and always liked the iphones for their durability - always had android but would be willing to give the I phone a go. Any opinions on the deal itself?

Cant post link as new user.

The price for that phone is good, about the same a second hand phone but comes with apple guarantee for 1 year.

    As comments.
Title has 32GB but description 16GB
I assume is SIM free as all/most phones they sell are SIM free.

    Yes it's Refurb

I think most places that sell Iphones other than apple are refurb (except shops like, CPW, 3, Vodafone, etc)

I would say it's 32GB as front page has 32GB on title and also the picture. The description could be just copy and paste.

How trustworthy is that website? Have many people ordered from it before, and what is the usual delivery time? Seems a decent price. Iphone 4S are at least 100euro more if they are bought from a phone shop

I ordered a few times from them, was a few years ago, delivery was slow but ok.

If you search in boards you should see some feedback.

Bought a refurb last month from Groupon and it was like new.
I couldn't find anything that was wrong with it, sim free and a year guarantee.
Did take a long time to come though.

I bought a 5s from Living social recently and the battery is failing. Pain in the arse.

Did you get a warranty with it? Still undecided probably won't go for it in the end. Just putting it up in case it was of interest to anyone.

Don't think so - I am returning it

battery won't be covered under warranty anyway. I got a 32gb iphone 5s Battery not brilliant just about the day with my heavy use. It cost 320 with 20e off code on living social and also tesco clubcard pts.

I'm happy enough with that. Was like new but i guess its luck of the draw when it comes to refurbs

Isn't that phone practically an antique at this stage?

A day with heavy use is about right for a 5S.

    ...must consume latest tech...gasp...

The main problem with an Apple product is working out how long it will be supported for. Otherwise they still work very well, decent screen, camera, range of apps etc. Battery might need replacing. Might be a bit slow on heavy apps, websites.

Your first sentence doesn't reflect my attitude at all. My concern are the things you yourself pointed out at the end there.

Seems pointless to drop money on something that'll struggle with up to date software and will only struggle more as time passes.

Struggle with what? Making a call, taking a photo, looking up a bus timetable? The hardware in this phone, screen camera, software, build quality, mic, speaker will be far superior than some of the new mid to low end new phones around today. Depends what you want to do with it. If its play the latest games, or post 4k videos of a cat, then you probably shouldn't be buying this.

Is it a bargain. Probably not. Bargain iPhone (is an iPhone ever a bargain?)

iPhones refurbished by Apple are basically like new. They change the exterior if it has ANY sign of usage (glass and aluminum parts), change the battery, run full diagnostics that only they can do. And they are sold in a brand new box with full set of brand new accessories. I doubt anyone could tell that it was used previously. And they're covered by Apple's excellent 1 year warranty which means if it doesnt work for any reason they send u another one via UPS in 48hrs

iPhones refurbished by 3rd parties can be in mint condition but it depends on the previous owners. Plus they are usually sold in plain packaging or in the used box with used accessories.

There is a huge difference between the two. It's subjective but i'd say the Apple refurbished should trade at a 25-30% premium vs the others. I bought an Apple official refurbished iPhone 5 from Littlewoods and was extremely happy with the purchase. Cheaper than a new iPhone 5c but with double the memory (16GB vs 8GB).

Groupon currently has a deal running to buy refurbs from a company in the UK that buys used phone and resells them. They do statethat they come with plain packaging and could have wear and tear marks.

On the contrary Tesco UK (tesco.com/direct/apple-iphone-5-16gb-black-refurbished/356-8101.prd) sells Apple refurbs for £269 at the moment. Not sure if parcelmotel works though. Still cheaper than a new iPhone 5c but not as good of a deal as I got from Littlewoods (paid €330 for it at LW, great BA spotted on boards.ie).

Alternatively amazon.es (Spain) is selling new iPhone 5c's for €339.

Thats a good point. What exactly does refurbished mean on IBood.

Specifically, unexpected shutdowns with plenty of battery left.
