"Searching..." for network

    iPhone 4s on vodafone network.
Problem started last Thursday when the update came through. I tried to install update, phone got stuck on "verifying update" screen for quite a while and eventually crashed. When it came too the top left where the vodafone network would be just showed "Searching..." and has been like that since.
I can use apps on the phone when I'm connected to Wifi but since Saturday it hasn't let me sign into iMessage/use Facetime (even when connected to Wifi).
Have done network reset, full reset, restored from iTunes.
Any more advice before I bring it in?

When you restored through iTunes did you set it up as a new phone, or restore a backup to the phone?

it didn't recognise the phone at all, but I restored it as a backup from my ipad!
Should I restore it as a new iPhone? Only thing I'm worried about is my contacts, will I lose them if I do this?

I would try restoring it as new and seeing if the issue fixed at all. It rules it out of being a SW issue or not, have you tried another SIM card in the phone as well?

And yes, restoring as new will have the phone completely empty Of your data so no contacts, pics etc. if issue isn't fixed you can restore your backup to the phone then and everything that's backed up will come back. If the issue is fixed, there's a problem with something in the backup that's causing the issue.
