I have had an S3 since it was released and im changing from that to an S5 when it arrives next week.

I havent changed from a smartphone yet so i just want to be clear on what i need to do and how to do it right.

Besides swapping over my internal Micro sim and Micro SD what else do i need to do?

    Thanks.

if you want to carry over your contacts in a seamless manner just make sure you are linked & synced to Google on the S3, then when you link & sync on the S5 your contacts will be there.

You can get all the apps back by logging into Play and going to the "My Apps" section where you will see all of the apps you've ever installed and can re-download to the new phone (probably best done over WiFi).

Contacts WON'T sync if they are saved on someone's sim card.
So they must open their Contacts/People app, and in the 3-dot menu, select export contacts to "storage". Then they will sync.
