Best creepypasta - horror stories, images and urban legends

As is evident from the "has anything unnerving happened to you" thread, there is an appetite for the bizarre, eerie and unsettling.

So do you have any particularly good tale, image or short video from the www?

My own favourite has to be the Russian Sleep Experiment, perhaps partially because the image that is often used when the story is told is pretty arresting.

Experimental gas based stimulant? It wasnt possible to measure anaesthetic gases accuratly until the 80s even with circuits and tubes so this is completely bs. On every level its bs...

    Snopes says: Urban legend

Good one, mind you. Anyway the OP probably already knows this, since he has referred specifically to urban legends.

Oh no, not real, though you still see sites where it's debated as if it's in issue.

Which is the best creepypasta, the ones where some people think it's real or has a basis in reality. Like Slender Man.

Would make a good movie though!

Obviously Slender. Makes it even scarier to think that two young girls stabbed another young girl almost to death to appease him.

There was once a girl called Constance whose parents came from a long line of aristocrats. The family didn't have money anymore, but she always been told that she came from "good breeding stock".

One day, both her parents were tragically killed in a train accident. They had gotten drunk, gone down to the shunting yard after the trains stopped running, climbed on the roof of a rail car and fell off.

Since her parents were dead, Constance was to be sent to live with her Grandma Tilly. While they were packing up some of her things, Constance decided to go up to the attic. As a child she had never been allowed up there and, although it was tragic that her parents were dead, she did relish the fact that she could finally go up and have a nose. She knew that her parents went up there sometimes after she had gone to bed, and when she was home alone she sometimes heard strange noises. Weeping, crying, people muttering in strange languages.

Constance opened the attic door and peered inside, bringing an electric torch with her. She turned it on and looked around. There were a few cobwebs and several large, antique chests. Constance then heard something scuttling in the shadows. "Who's there?" she squeaked, hoarse. "Why are you in my parents house?"

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a large man appeared. He was holding a scepter and had a crown on his head. Behind him stood a woman wearing a tiara and a very elegant dress. "Who are you?" Constance demanded. "Why are you up here?" "Your parents should have told you," the man replied, "unfortunately, they passed before they could. They had a horrible secret, something that they've kept up in this attic all these years. I suppose now's a good a time to find out as ever."

Constance was afraid. What had her parents been lying to her about? "What is it, then?" Constance asked. "Look in the chest," the woman replied, "here's a key." She handed Constance a key. Constance went over to the chest and opened it. Her heart suddenly started thudding loudly, and her mouth went dry. "Oh, no," she whispered, "no..." Inside the chest was a pile of papers, scripts for plays and more crowns and various types of shoes.

"What's the meaning of this?" Constance demanded through tear-stained eyes.

"We're sorry to have to be the ones to tell you this," the woman replied, "but your parents weren't aristocrats. They were... Thespians."

There's a movie documentary on Netflix called Cropsey. It's about a bunch of missing children from Staten Island in the 80's and an urban myth that grew up out of an abandoned mental hospital and the former patients who remained after it closed. It's one of the creepiest things I've seen more so because the body of one of the children was found in the grounds.

Some creepy pasta stories are funny, others are a bit chilling but then there's the outright disturbing. For a glimpse into the mind of a complete sicko you only have to read this creepy pasta and wonder who the author was. *It's an advert that was posted on a deep web site back in 2011.

Warning to those with a weak disposition, this is not for you.

*Remember, it's not real... it's just a story.

The story about the babysitter and the clown in the bedroom is one that springs to mind!

That's just...depraved. Even writing it out was depraved. Reading it felt depraved.

This is a true story of a man preserving a corpse for some form of gratification, but the link contains an image that some may find a bit disturbing.

Despite being a grown man there was one in the last thread like this that freaked me out. Don't remember it exactly but the gist of it was a young girl was alone in the house with her mother, she hears her name being called from downstairs so she goes downstairs, as she walks down the hall an arm reaches out from the cupboard under the stairs and grabs her while a voice says 'don't go in there, I heard it too.'

    Great thread.

When I was a kid (and now) that common panopticism trope in popular culture, yarns. urban myths etc that involved zooming in on an innocent photo to reveal a mysterious figure observing from bushes or a window that had been hitherto unnoticed.

I even recently saw one online on somewhere like dangerous minds and even now it has the power to completely unnerve me in a deep way, even if obviously fake.

    The 2 sentence horror story?

    No. 29 on this list...

Of course, had forgotten, that is pretty eerie alright.

And whatever about the theories that are out there, just the thought of the hotel guests drinking the water in which her body was decomposing...

Another bizarre one is the disappearance of Tara Calico, who went missing in 1988 aged 19. A year later a polaroid of two unidentified people seemingly bound on a bed turned up in a car park at a shopping mall. Her mother believes it is Tara...here is the pic, it's a bit disturbing...

Who put Bella in the Wych Elm is a bizarre one.

Kids playing in a tree in England in 1943 found a skull and some remains, pathologists said they had been placed in the trunk in 1941. But the victim was never identified, nor were her killers, and the theories ranges from witchcraft to espionage to teaching a drunk woman a lesson. At the time graffiti popped up asking "who put Bella in the wych elm?" suggesting someone knew something, and it also appeared again in recent years...
