What to Look for When Getting Attic Conversion Quotes

    Hi,

I am beginning to look at getting quotes for an attic conversion.

I am getting a lot of sales patter.

What should I be looking for in terms of insulation(type and thickness), breathable membranes, flooring specifications, fire regulations and regulations in general?

Also is an architect or surveyor required to plan or generate drawings?

    Thanks in advance.

    When you
    a) sell or
    b) re mortgage

you will be asked to show to

    a) the buyers lender or
    b) your own

    two certificates of compliance

    1. with planning or exemption from planning and
    2. with building regulations.

So ask each company for a sample of their certificates and then ask your solicitor if they would suffice when you sell or re mortgage.
Don't find at later as sales can and do fail over these matters.

If any company flutters at this keep looking.

Really you are best to appoint an architect.
