Cookie spam from Brussels

I am sick of cookie warnings – which were caused by stupid EU law number 999’999 (ie 2009/136/EC). It is another form of spam from Brussels, and is nothing more than a typical dysfunctional political reaction to privacy concerns. Anybody who is concerned with their personal privacy will be aware of cookies and have their browser set-up tweaked accordingly.

Some of the biggest offenders are the ejit “webmasters/-mistresses” that grey out their website until one clicks on a cookie acceptance icon. Warn visitors to your site about cookies if you wish, but do not waste their time with high profile noise.

High time the EU and nation states everywhere focussed on real privacy issues. Rather than playing politics with internet users. They could start by taking action against browsers that do not delete all cookies and similar files when instructed in the settings (eg when one closes one’s browser).

Facebook is after getting bitch slapped by the Belgian data protection authority for tracking NON USERS (shakes fist) with sneaky cookies,
“The researchers did find a bug that may have sent cookies to some people when they weren’t on Facebook. This was not our intention – a fix for this is already under way,” wrote Richard Allan, Facebook’s vice president of policy for Europe in a rebuttal.

By some of course he means millions of people.

Now lets see what happens to Facebook in the next few weeks in their Austrian Privacy Case, the Court is gonna rule whether it has jurisdiction to hear the case by the 29th. 25,000 User Class Action case against Facebook's European HQ in Dublin.

Compensation Claim of €500 per user.
