    Folks,
After xmas I had a problem with our wii stopping reading the disks. I didn't fancy changing the laser, so I bought a whole new dvd driver (DVDrom drive unit). That way, I didn't need to get into soldering.
Anyway, I've installed it correctly but still not working. It's still saying "Unable to read disk".
    Any ideas please?

Is it a certain disk, or all disks? Some are double layer disks, and the console can struggle reading them. If you have it fully updated that can help!

Why didn't you just buy a new Wii? They're cheap as chips and a dime a dozen. Was there Wiiware games, non copyable save files or something? I've never had the misfortune but can't you do a transfer between systems? You can from Wii to Wii U.
