What is tax position when Social Welfare has to be repaid

Take an example:

In 2013, 8,000 (gross) worth of SW payments were claimed that should not have been claimed.

The 8,000 was included in the 2013 tax return and because of other income, was taxed at the top rate so lets say 3,800 in tax was paid on the 8,000.

The day of reckoning has arrived and the SW want their 8,000 back.

Will the Revenue refund the 3,800?
If so what is the procedure?

They will refund it.

You'd amend your 2013 return in such circumstances.

Yeah, just let Revenue know that the income was actually X.
