    Possible United XI........................................................Possible City XI.

    manchester-united-manchester-city-12042015.pngmanchester-city-manchester-united-12042015.png

With United ahead of City there's a real chance to open a 4 point gap and set down a marker in this game.United are the form team but with any derby this goes out the window.

    Jaysus, thats a bit early.

The top sides have still to play before this game.

It's to give City a chance to find a few more fans before the game:D

Plenty of times I've seen match threads go up 2 days before a big game.

Anyway, I reckon United will beat them, 3-1 or 2-0. United -1 for me.

Utd to all but end Citys defence of the title here, City dont look capable of turning it around and it would be Citys 4 succesive away loss in the league if it was too happen, which doesnt tell the whole story as before the losses against Liverpool, Burnley and Palace, they only lost 1 away game all season.

City still have the 2nd best away record in the league and a derby is really tough to call but I can see Utd turning them over at Old Trafford, as Utd currently have the best home record in the league.

Citys home form was less impressive than their away form up until the 3 recent losses in a row but going to Old Trafford right now with Utd in this form is pretty daunting.

I'd rather a draw, opens up a 3 point gap between us and 3rd.

    If we win.

True that but I'd be interested to see the wheels really come off for City and to see if liverpool can fight them for a champions league qualifier place.

    Or Ireland even.

The irony on an Irish soccer forum.

1-1 or 2-2 in this one imo

    Big win for LVG here

United to concede a penalty and have a sending off early in the second half, setting up 40 minutes of me curled up in a foetal position behind the couch.

This fixture makes me have nightmares now.

As a United fan, I haven't been this confident going into a derby in years. So therefore, it'll probably finish 1-2 City.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,710 ✭✭✭Corvo

A good United performance that should result in a win.

    Draw

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,022 ✭✭✭✭Iused2likebusts

It's this city squads last chance to perform as I Reckon there will be big changes in the summer. I fancy city to win as it looks like Aguero will be up top on his own which suits him. If they are up for it which they should be they have the better players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,402 ✭✭✭keeponhurling

Given current form you'd have to say United.

But City have been winning this fixture quite easily recently, so probably have to go with them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,709 ✭✭✭✭Cantona's Collars

Red News are going with this as the 'confirmed' lineup for United:

De Gea - Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Blind - Ander Herrera, Carrick, Fellaini - Mata, Rooney, Ashley Young

If so that's very "safety first"

Like rest of you I reckon eith United will win, or maybe City will win, or it might be a draw.

Pretty much same team that beat Spurs and Liverpool.

Is it really? It's the same as the last match and fúck all different from the line-up of United's last 3 games where they showed their most impressive attacking play of the season. Games which they clearly played with the intention of winning, and did so comfortably each time.

If that is the real line-up, LVG is going for the win here and there isn't an element of "safety first" about it at all.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Sure a safety side can also win games. Its about balance, LVG will obviously be aware of Aguero/Silva/Toure (if he is in the mood) so he has picked a side that is hard working and with a solid shape, essentially reliable in nature rather than throwing everything at City. That's a good thing by the way. I hope Utd win :)

Put DiMaria on the starting teamsheet for the fear factor if nothing else.

    Im hoping he starts.

I think both sides still have their mental fragilities but Utd's just haven't been tested as much lately. I reckon whoever scores first will go on to win comfortably...

I think even in his current form he's a much more decisive player than Young. Young puts in a good shift and is good for drawing fouls in dangerous areas(diving included) but rarely sets up a goal or scores. Di Maria is and always has been a somewhat frustrating player but I think he's a lot more capable of turning a game on its head so I'd be happy to see him start.

Im cautiously optimistic of a victory but its certainly not a foregone conclusion.

He hasn't though, if he picks that team. He's just picking the same team that has been winning and playing well.

In form United against out of form City. Only thing in City's favour here is that United are not as direct on the counter as a lot of teams. City's defense has been a mess this season and its quick counter-attacks which have made them look awful for the most part.

Still it's hard to see past United even with all the stars in the City lineup.

If Aguero suddenly hits form then it all changes of course.

Bets on..utd 2-1 win with Rooney to score first (feeling there may be a peno early) @30/1..optimistic I know :)

Not really looking forward to this today, to be honest. I can't really see us extending the winning sequence over them to 5, though I'd be delighted to be proved wrong! They have the current form going into the match, but fcuk it. I'll opt for a draw (which I'd happily take right now it was offered to me).

City to win against the run of play, aguero or dzeko to get an undeserved winner.

    Glazers Out!

Obviously, I hope I'm wrong but all this talk of United being favorites after producing nothing against city for years and the fact that United have never lost five in a row against anyone, every time one of those stats has been rolled out in the last couple of years the record has been broken and United have lost said match.

    Glazers Out!

United need to step it up another level to win this one. Liverpool and Spurs have mediocre players across the board barring one of two the likes of Kane, it's rather pointless using those games as a gauge for how this one could go as it's a significantly harder challenge for this United team against good players who have been off form

Would stick with the same team as recent game, start Young and bring Di Maria on later, Fellaini has been playing so well lately a poor performance must be inevitable I really hope it's not today

Closest derby game in a while, too tough to call.

If City play 4-4-2 theyll play into Uniteds hands.

Really nervous about today, think all the pressure is on United.

    Score draw.

Wouldn't think so, he was only in team last week because smalling was ill.

Thnk fcuk; we're not playing with two upfront today. Kun on his own, and the midfield beefed up with Jimbo back in. The onus will be on Merlin, Yaya and Jesus to get forward at every realistic opportunity to support Kun. Milner and Fern to hold in midfield.

Rojo is so much better than both Smalling and Jones, especially on the left side of the CB pairing it's not even funny.

Smalling is the best CB at the club at the moment.
