We're back training for junior hurling and as usual the numbers aren't great. 7-8 fellas at most sessions. Can be worse. Come matches though, we'll have the numbers plus some.

It seems to be the plight of trainers everywhere. I was listening to an interview with shefflin the other evening and he saying years ago his club would be lucky to have 7-8 fellas training too. So it seems even the best can suffer.

And every manager will tell you "that crowd that bate ye last year have 20 fellas every session!"

So lads, how many do ye have training?

It can fluctuate from 10 to 20.
The whole structure of the club season doesn't help. There is no structure!
I think clubs have to look really hard at looking after players better - a bit of gear, squad outing to big hurling game etc

Too many clubs also wasting money on outside trainers when the clubs should be creating good qualified coaches from the underage setup and bringing them through.

At what level are ye at niceguy?

The social side of our club is decent enough. And we've gotten gear in the past.

Club fixtures are a joke at time. We were unable to fill our last few fixtures this year. They were into late november and the younger members of the panel were gone back to college. You would go months with no game and then a few together.
