This is absolutely a fecking shameful idea from Fox to go ahead with this plan as I myself was planning to purchase the individual boxsets of each season of The Simpsons on DVD as I don't see the earlier episodes more often then I should on the TV at home.

    http://www.avclub.com/article/simpsons-will-no-longer-be-released-dvd-217796

A new streaming service called SimpsonsWorld.com is to become available online on the Fox website in the US only for a rate of $20 a month. I also heard that the simpson commentaries would have to be got from seperate podcasts and have to be simultaneously with the episodes which is a pain going to be a pain for fans who had plans to purchase the episodes on DVD or Blu-ray.

I only have a handful of about ten episodes of the Simpsons on DVD at home but it is only a compilation box-set. 20th Century Fox do plan to release it a Complete Series boxset which may cost even more to purchase in the future.

Any thoughts on this issue? I will await your feedback.

$20 for Simpsons only streaming feels a bit steep.

Even at it's peak $20/month would have been too much. Are FOX deluded?

Yes. I feel they are deluded. FOX don't realise that there is still a great demand of people getting Physical media. Having physical media is still more reliable than digital because not everybody's broadband allowance to view movies or TV is the same; they are different based on one's financial circumstances, delivery of speed and availability of ISP's in their area.

Another thing for FOX is to let every episode of the Simpsons to be available for streaming online permanently. As we have seen and heard before with Netflix; when the rights holders of a movie or TV show makes negotiations to go on Netflix; it doesn't stay there permanently as it may be taken off without prior notice to their customers.

That's one of the main reasons why I don't use Netflix at any point. All will I be effectively doing is renting movies or TV shows on a streaming service that is the same quality or probably worse than a VHS tape when on a low speed connection.

I am still a physical media collector for movies and TV shows, because I don't have to contend with all the ****e of not having your internet server working or going through slow broadband, and that is the way it should be and no more.

Are you sure about this? It isn't mentioned in the article and I can't seem to find anything on the net. I thought I heard back when they announced Simpsons World last year that it would be free for anyone with a cable subscription that comes with FX/FXX.

Otherwise $20 a month would be insane for a single show when a Netflix subscription is only $8 with a massive catalogue.

The bit in bold is correct although if you do not have the cable subscription you pay the $20 regardless.
