Can you lay flooring directly on hollowcore without a screed? Are there potential drawbacks?

I presume it has to grouted first and engineer approved (no need for structural screed etc)

A non structural screed would typically be required to level the floor. PC units typically have a camber on them and I have yet to see them go in anywhere where they are all level.
