Hi guys, I have search order thread but they all seem very old!
Basically my love that is my e46 is dying and I need a new car.
Im set on an A4, diesel and HAS to be SLine. The budget is not huge but I am not In a rush as I really want to get the best I can.
Do they have any major problems? My heart was broken with my 6 years of BMW ownership. To say im emotional having to get rid of it is an understatement!

What are peoples opinions on going up North to source one? I am looking at 08 for the new model and cheaper tax. The sterling is crazy at the moment, am I stupid looking up North? I am predicting higher spec being avaliable up there. SLines seem to be here teeth down here.

Should I be looking for certain items to be done after certain miles on them?

    Any help greatly appreciated! Ger

if your heart was broken with bmw ownership then you should probably be looking for a japanese car , most of the german cars have similar reliability and costs to repair

s lines are gorgeous alright but rarer and hence command a higher price if you are scrimping to get into one be very careful as it could be a wreck or mental mileage . you might get lucky but just be aware

everyone i know with audis all have the same comlaints . engine burning oil (which apparently audi approve of up to 1 litre per month )and turbos blowing up . turbos will be an issue for any diesel car these days . other main complaint is Diesel particulate filters

    Whats the budget ?
the cheapest 08 is going to be 9k plus.
The mileage will be massive as well.
With massive miles comes the problems with DMF, DPF, EGR electric handbrake injectors etc
