got hit by a car , I had green they had red. witnesses verified my account of it, gardai arrived and details were exchanged. after adrenalin dropped my back started to ache and some other areas, not bad enough to warrant hospital. no impact to head so I decided to wait a day or 2 to see how I feel

so its 2 days later and my back still hurts(middle and left side) , theres no visible bruising but it hurts a little when I cough(ribs?). Id like to get some physio,

    • my next move=do I approach the driver now for compensation to cover these costs?

(I fixed my own front wheel and re positioned my stem and handlebars(both steel so no damage), front wheel isnt perfect but close enough, frameset appears to be ok, also steel)

If you're in CI it may be worth checking their insurance for cover regarding your injuries - never seen an adequate explanation of what constitutes "sanctioned training" or whatever the term was that appeared on the website last year but a lot of people seem to think that any cycling could be considered training is covered

In terms of damage to property, do you have the driver's insurance details? You need that as a backstop anyway in case the CI insurance does not cover treatment costs. I would be trying to contact their insurers and asking them what they need to support any claim be it for personal injury or damage to property

Think the sooner you approach them the better (you have no guarantee that the driver has notified them)

Hi OP your first visit should be to a doctor.

Its not recommend to go straight into physio after a vehicle accident.

You need to get yourself medically assessed first and foremost. The rest is secondary

I would suggest contacting drivers insurance and record all dealings and keep receipts.

I am using a specialist solicitor for my car accident as the other persons insurance didn't want to know and would never get back.

Need any info or details pm. I can forward on to you.

About a year ago I was kit by a car - there was a post on here. Or to be specific, I hit a car who pulled out on a roundabout while I had the right of way and then decided to stop in the middle of the roundabout leaving me no where to go!

Speed wasn't fast, 15km/h. No broken bones, but I took a bang to the back of head and ended up with missing time and a concussion.

I did make a visit to the hospital, who let me home after about 12 hours of observation - as I didn't vomit or pass out I was 'fit enough' to be discharged. Which was fair enough.

About 48 hours later, the back seized up and the neck went! The following week I got worse finding it difficult to walk. Then the coccyx really really hurt! I won't describe the pain or the difficulty that that caused!

Initially I felt 'ok' (aside from the massive headaches) - but it got worse before it got better. The following 12 weeks I had the worst headaches I have ever experienced. At their worst, there was between 4 and 6 severe headaches lasting about 5mins per waking hour. Plus sensitivity to light and sounds.

as punisher5112 said, get the details of the motorist and do visit your doctor. even if its only to ave a record of your visit.

I still have 'uncomfortableness' when I sit for too long, i.e. going to the cinema, there is residual stiffness in my neck and I've developed tinnitus in my right ear.

The after effects may take time to manifest. Look after yourself.

thanks for all the replies, I dont have my CI licence yet for this year. it was semi training/recovery ride after gym session, its still not clear what CI covers if your out on your own on the bike. I usually get the license end of april

Im gonna try see my GP tomorrow to document it, the pain is tolerable but a nuisance and it limits what I can do at the gym, cant do leg press now, never mind squats or deadlifts. which might effect my track season as Ive got considerably stronger and have made good progress,

I'm no doctor but I don't thinks it's a good idea to be going to the gym with pains in your back after a accident.

I get to a gp asap as you might have underlying damage that you may not realise
